Katya Echazarreta is a true force for change. Echazarreta has worked to forge her own path. “Going into space was something very special. It sounds nice, but the reality is that it wasn’t easy to get there,” she said. She revealed the complexity of getting jobs in space institutions due to underrepresentation. Those who pursue these careers must be vocal and open paths for more women in the field of science. “Going into space was the most beautiful moment of my life. I wasn’t scared that day—weeks before I was,” she said. “It was a weird feeling because it was something I had wanted all my life….
