He did this before I took his class and he continued this trend even after we graduated! SAME SHIRT! EVERY DAY! FOR TWO YEARS! However, despite that, he was always neat and tidy! Did he wear the same shirt every day or did he have many shirts like it? Nobody knew and nobody bothered to ask! All we cared was that he was an amazing physics teacher! So the moral is that if a guy is clean and tidy and does his job perfectly then it should not matter if he repeats his shirts for 2 days or 2 years. Are her clothes clean? Are they neat? Are they in good condition? Does the person have an odor that would indicate that her clothes need washing? If the answer is no, say nothing. A person can wear the same outfit all week long if he or she wants to, as long as the above criteria are met.
What should it matter to anyone else what a colleague wears, if it’s in accordance with the dress code of the workplace? (Is the person there to perform the functions of her job or to model fashion for her co-workers?) I once sat next to a guy, at work, who always wore the same shirt and pants. People teased him. I became a friend of his at work and he asked me if he should just come out and tell the other workers that he was not good at picking out clothes, so he would buy 4 or 5 sets of the same thing. I said sure or I will mention it to them. He said that would be very nice of me. A few days later he was not at work and I mentioned the clothing thing to the ‘group’. They understood. Matter of fact, one other guy said he always takes his sister out with him to buy his clothes because he just doesn’t know how to match things. Unfortunately, I didn’t see my work neighbour at work for 2 weeks. I tried to email him and nothing. I finally looked up his brother and found out he had killed himself. The majority of the people at work were so sorry that they had teased him. Who knows what was his reason for killing himself.
Why should you say anything at all? There are innumerable reasons for someone to wear what looks like the same top a couple of days in a row. If the clothing is clean and tidy and there is no unpleasant smell, who cares? I find this an annoyingly insulting question that seems to be overloaded with unarticulated but unpleasant assumptions and judgements. But really. If the clothing is not noticeably unfresh and meets the workplace dress code, who cares? Friday and Monday are not two days in a row. Saturday and Sunday come between those two days, at least for most of us. You should look at yourself and acknowledge that you are judgmental diuchebag who pokes their nose in other people’s lives where you have NO business!
